Projects We're Proud Of

At KAMP Engineering, we pride ourselves on delivering precision and reliability across every project we touch.  Whether it’s designing seamless rail systems or providing accurate cost estimations for airport transportation, our work speaks for itself.

On this page, you’ll find a selection of real-world projects where we’ve contributed our expertise in both design and estimating.  Each project showcases the depth of our capabilities and the tangible impact we’ve made in keeping projects on track and on budget.
Project Summary
King County Metro Interim Base Electrification

Client: King County, WA

Project Type: Estimating

Overview: King County is transitioning their electric trolly bus fleet to be fully electric by 2035.  Part of the project is to add 200 overhead bus charging units to an existing maintenance facility.

Our Role: Our role was to estimate the bus electrification and communications systems.

Project Summary
Port of Seattle Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) Automated People Mover (APM) Train Control and Design

Client: Sea-Tac, Seattle, WA

Project Type: Estimating

Overview: The STS Controls Renewal project is focused on replacing the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system for the North and South Loop APM system. The upgrade is designed to match the remaining life of the STS, which is expected to be 10-15 years, while accommodating the growing demands of the airport. The project also includes the construction of a fiber optic network to support the ATC system.

Our Role: KAMP Engineering provides design estimating support for the STS Controls renewal project, working as part of the team responsible for implementing communications and electrical design services. This includes the construction of the fiber optic network that will support the upgraded ATC system, ensuring its efficiency and reliability.

Project Summary
Austin Transit Partnership

Project Type: Estimating

Overview: The Austin Transit Partnership light rail expansion through downtown Austin and includes major utility work, roadway improvement, at—grade and aerial stations, numerous bridges, trackwork, park and rides, traction power and systems. This scope of work also includes the cost of a Combined Maintenance Facility (CMF) and yard.

Our Role: Our staff led the systems independent cost estimating efforts including Train Control, Overhead Catenary, Traction Power, Communications, and guideway power.  The cost estimate was constructed following FTA’s Standard Cost Categories and provided guidance to the affordability of ATP’s program.

Project Summary
Caltrain Electrification, Substations

Client: Caltrain

Project Type: Estimating

Overview: Caltrain Electrification project installed two substations along a 50-mile corridor to support the electrification of the Caltrain rail system. Key components included transformers, switches, and control cabinets, all integrated into Caltrain's existing systems to provide reliable power for electric trains.

Our Role: Our Expert was responsible for estimating the traction power substation scope and working with the design team to develop Alternative technical concepts

Project Summary
East Link Extension

Client: Sound Transit

Project Type: Design

Overview: The East Link Extension is a 14-mile light rail extension connecting the Eastside to downtown Seattle, Sea-Tac Airport, and the University of Washington. There are 10 stations that will serve Seattle, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Bel-Red, and Overlake in Redmond.

Our Role: KAMP Engineering is supporting design services during construction for communications and controls systems, high speed local and wide area IP network, low voltage copper cabling and fiber-optic cabling, CCTV, access control, and train way intrusion detection, public address, visual message signs, SCADA, emergency telephones, and fire safety and emergency ventilation system interfaces.
