Overview: The STS Controls Renewal project is focused on replacing the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system for the North and South Loop APM system. The upgrade is designed to match the remaining life of the STS, which is expected to be 10-15 years, while accommodating the growing demands of the airport. The project also includes the construction of a fiber optic network to support the ATC system.
Our Role: KAMP Engineering provides design estimating support for the STS Controls renewal project, working as part of the team responsible for implementing communications and electrical design services. This includes the construction of the fiber optic network that will support the upgraded ATC system, ensuring its efficiency and reliability.
Project Type: Estimating
Overview: The Austin Transit Partnership light rail expansion through downtown Austin and includes major utility work, roadway improvement, at—grade and aerial stations, numerous bridges, trackwork, park and rides, traction power and systems. This scope of work also includes the cost of a Combined Maintenance Facility (CMF) and yard.
Our Role: Our staff led the systems independent cost estimating efforts including Train Control, Overhead Catenary, Traction Power, Communications, and guideway power. The cost estimate was constructed following FTA’s Standard Cost Categories and provided guidance to the affordability of ATP’s program.
Client: Caltrain
Project Type: Estimating
Overview: Caltrain Electrification project installed two substations along a 50-mile corridor to support the electrification of the Caltrain rail system. Key components included transformers, switches, and control cabinets, all integrated into Caltrain's existing systems to provide reliable power for electric trains.
Our Role: Our Expert was responsible for estimating the traction power substation scope and working with the design team to develop Alternative technical concepts
Client: Sound Transit
